my first try at video

Any help would be appreciated.
How long does it usually take to load a video? A really long time?
From digital cameras, is there a way to stop and start without ending the video?
Or how would I piece together several video's?

missing my butter & starvin' Fridays

Poor Scarecrow Girl. A pigail is all that remains. She has departed this world for scarecrow heaven.

While we were gone to our jobs, Scarecrow Girl got blown to the ground by the wind, and she became terribly mutilated by "predators." See photo below.

This was dinner tonight. Side note - Mike calls "dinner" supper and calls "lunch" dinner. We've never talked the same language.

Anyway, we're on the: Joanna's-not-cooking-anymore diet. Being a red-blooded southern girl, I am unable to only cook for two. It's in my genetics to be prepared to feed all family, friends, strangers, and homeless animals who may arrive at the door. Also, anything I'm cooking begins and ends with butter, real butter. My caloric downfall has never been sweet's and soda's but butter.

Tomorrow is "starvin' Friday," Mike and I have weigh ins on Saturday mornings, so ya have to eat light in hopes to get a good number.

Monday Misc

Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats

SweetPea

Below, is CoCo and Gypsy as they are leaving with the cute, young couple that bought them. See the cage they built in the back of the pickup truck? For a couple of months, they have been preparing living quarters and fencing for the girls and sending me photo's. As they depart, I always tell the folks who buy our goats, if they ever have any life change, the goats always have a home back here.

We're not interested in making a dollar from the animals really, but the monies we receive goes to supporting our financial investment - their dams and sires, feed, hay, medical care, fencing, etc.

When we are selling eggs at the Farmers Market, people seem to think we are making a living by selling eggs at $3.50 per dozen. (because WalMart can sell factory eggs for $ .78 per dozen). Just the feed alone is expensive although Mike says it came down some recently to $10 for a 50lb bag. We spend approx $65 a month just on bird food, and my birds free range and get lots of goodies from my kitchen. Franklin is a big eater!

Mike says the medicated-goat feed is $14 per bag and I'm afraid to ask how much of that we go through in a month. Those goats like to eat and always trying to knock each other out of the way, we have to feed the little ones separately or they'd be crowded out, and never get any grain.

They just look like good people don't they?

Many male donkeys have lived terribly tortured lives but for one happy ending, read Linda's,

SweetPea and Gabbi

Today, I had the French Onion Soup at Panera Bread, wow, I think that's the best FOS I've ever had, wasn't so watery either, had a thickness/richness to it. According to Dottie's webpage:
http://www.dwlz.com/Restaurants/panera.html
French Onion (with cheese & croutons) [9.25 oz] (200 cal/10g fat/2g fiber/23g carbs/8g protein/1780mg sodium) 4.5 oh my, now I see the amount of sodium, I won't pee for a week!

I had a Ruby Tuesday's buy-one-get-one-free coupon, so Saturday for lunch, I got the CrabCake Dinner and Mike got the Talipia Dinner. Was good, in fact, when I got finished there wasn't a speck of broccoli or anything left on my plate and Mike looked up at the server and said, "Y'all won't have to wash hers."

http://www.dwlz.com/Restaurants/rubytuesday.html
Jumbo Lump Crabcake (1) (69 cal/4 g fat/1 g fiber/3 g carbs) 2
White Cheddar Mashed Potatoes (1) (274 cal/16 g fat/3 g fiber/21 g carbs) 6.5
Fresh Steamed Broccoli (1) (129 cal/8 g fat/3 g fiber/5 g carbs) 3
Looks like it cost me 12 points, this big girl was hungry, and it was good!

Scarecrow Girl

Isn't she darling? Look at those pigtails.

No, don't eat Scarecrow Girls feet!

Stop! poor thing.

Speaking of feet, all 13 goats got a hood trimming today. In the morning, we'll be down to 11 goats, Gypsy and CoCo are going to their new home. :-( but I feel sure they are going to a forever, loving home.

This morning, we went to town and walked on the Greenway, this section is sorta new. Mike has the Irish Terriers, Brawn and Bliss. Does Mike look a little slimmer? He's down 10 lbs and I'm down 6 lbs, it's been not quite a month since we started dieting. Both of us have a long ways to go but at least we've gotten started.

The Town is putting a pond in here.

Back home, here is Chubby Cubby.

We let the males out to browse. Cubby, Sundance, and Cahoot. Sundance is behind the brambles, Dr. Beckworth wethered/castrated Sundance on Friday and he's doing fine.

MilkDud didn't do much picking, he couldn't take his mind off the "women."

Have you tried these Yoplait Delights? Oh my, they're delicious. In Boone we don't have a SuperWalMart but when I went to Jefferson to pick up Sundance on Friday, I stopped in to their SW and these were $2 for a 4-pack. So far, I've tried the Lemon Torte and the Berry Creme.

Dr. Oz recommended pistachio's, I love 'em, I actually prefer the ones fresh out of the shells. Per serving, pistachios have more antioxidants than green tea. That should make tea green with envy.

misc & Friendship Fruit Cake

TootleLu keeps improving, a little bit at a time.

She jumped in that chair by herself.

The old tiller up at the garden.

CoCo

Franklin loves having his picture taken, when I get the camera out, he comes running and gobbling.

Pearl Guineas

Our home and the barn on the left.

Wheaten Marans. Duffy and his 6 girls.

Franklin leads the pack

I started out raising Salmon Faverolles and still have a few girls, and will always have some because they are so cute. They lay eggs when they "feel" like it.

The one in the back is a squash. I think in some countries, squash and pumkins, they are all called pumpkins, just different varieties. Did you read about Suzanne's Spiced Cushaw Squash Pie today? Sounded awesome.

Still dieting but slow go. I've stuck with it except when a friend brought over a WHOLE homemade Friendship Fruit Cake last night, omg. I didn't eat nearly as much as I would've liked, I quickly sliced it up and shared it with others to get it out of the house. In fact, I got it outta here so fast, I forgot to take a photo, and it was very photogenic! Google for the recipe, would make great gifts.

doozy of a day

What a doozy of a day! Temp high was 65 degrees, blue skies, crisp, and a little breezy. I love Fall but rather me and old-man winter part ways, mostly has to do with caring for the farm animals, such as their water freezing.

SweetPea loves to play buttin' heads with her Mama, June. BigJune is much heavier than SweetPea who is one-year old now. I guess Calinete was the referee.

Good news! Tootlelu is better, she has a long way to go, but we are seeing her make some progess. All my second guessing about ole Dr. Beckworth was for naught. I need to take those bandages off, that was from the other night when I was trying to tape up the ankle. Instead of dragging the hoof all the time, now she is correcting some times.

Here are Toot's sister, CoCo, and her Mama, Clara.

My spoiled-rotten Gabbi and 16 yr old Henry. Later, Caliente did a head butt to Henry, getting him out of the barn area, and he said, "yes ma'me" and left.
The Pearl Guinea's got a treat of some pumkin today.

A beautiful bouquet of wild flowers.

Bourbon Red Turkeys, Franklin and Frannie.

Cahoot, Deets, Cubby - "Where's Mike? it's time for supper."

Doe girls - "Where's Mike? we're hungry."

Sundance - "Is Mike coming?"

TootleLu - "I don't hear Mike."

I found BigMike in his new recliner, watching football, and playing bridge on his laptop.
Okbridge

There was a happy ending, I kicked Mike out to the barn, and everybody was fed and put to bed.
