trip to Vet for injections and fecal checks

We live in western NC, very close to the TN stateline. Our livestock Vet, Mandy Britt, has office hours in Mountain City, TN on Wednesday's and Thursday's. 9 bucks rode on one side of the trailer, 9 does on the other side of the trailer this morning for a couple of injections and fecal checks. $64 total.

One reason I like to keep a small herd is so we can fit everybody in our horse trailer at one time if we have to. There are many reasons that I like to keep a small herd.

Yes, we usually do the injections ourselves but I like picking my Vet's brains every now and then. And I like for her to check fecals. Mandy tested Cherry, Ginger, and Holly, all were clean.

Would like to have a lot less bucks but haven't had any offers from good homes so they just stay with us.

They're been spayed and neutered.
We're so proud of the work
that they do here,
at the same time,
JB and BJ are wonderful pets.

in the turkey pen,
any eggs?

yes! 9 eggs
now I want a turkey girl
to go broody,
sit on 'em for 30 days
and hatch 'em.
Yes, we've done the incubator
thing but young poults are
difficult to keep alive,
they're extremely fragile.

We have high hopes for that udder
in the show ring,

the judge is looking for capacity,
but yet has to be well attached and perky.

I really wanted Creighton Fraker to make the cut, the judges didn't stand behind him, even after this performance! I was gonna watch this American-Idol season because of Creighton.

On Saturday Feb 25, 2012 at 11AM, Small Animal Producers members and friends gathered for a potluck lunch, Jeff Shutz DVM talked to us about properly deworming our goats, and we had a short meeting afterwards.

1) Yardsale - Saturday April 21st at 8AM. Terry Harris BBQ plates for $8 beginning at 11AM, dine in or carry out. Bluegrass band plays noon - 4PM. Cedar Park 4953 Casar Rd Lawndale, NC 28090 2) purchase, $25 and up, ads in the show brochure. *Grady Ward bought an ad for $200 AND is going to donate a doe at the show. 3) place orders for pocket-Tshirts with Kim Peace 704-466-0425 $10-$12 apiece. The printers will design the shirt with all the dairy goats on it.
