Sunday Hike

To answer Mary Ann from the previous post, yes we do have a market for pet wethers. We've sold 6 wethers this year for $150 a pair. I never send one goat to a new home, they must go in pairs.

We start walking and usually have several followers.

new babies and new car

These Cali babies were born on Monday 7/23/12.

These Ginger babies were born Friday 7/27/12.

We got a "new" car today, 7/28/12. We traded in the 2006 F250 Diesel and the horse trailer. This car will have the tow package added so we can pull a small livestock trailer.

Tank sunning this morning.

Tank this evening.

Check out Ginger's gorgeous udder.

RIP Miss Kitty

Miss Kitty has passed.  Sometime this morning, she got into the pen with the Irish Terriers and they killed her. Mike went home at lunchtime and found her remains. I had scheduled a Vet appt for her on Thursday to check the leg and get some vaccinations.  Just called to cancel.

I don't want no cat!

I don't want no cat. Don't need no cat.

A tiny, white kitten that appears to have a broken rear-left leg showed up at the inlaws. Of course, all other family members had dozens of reasons why they couldn't take the cat in so... "send it to Mike and Joanna, the animal lovers. "

1) we don't need another mouth to feed
2) don't want to have to buy another kind of animal food
3) our Irish Terriers HATE cats, so would always have to avoid the possibility of the cat getting ripped to shreds (we've had that happen before)
4) can't afford any more Vet bills
5) if I wanted a cat, don't want a white one but an orange tabby

So, when I went to WalMart, why did I buy an extra-small pink collar and several cans of cat food?

our July 4th flashy fireworks

Our flashy fireworks comes from our new herdsire, Asylum Hill SS Tiger Tank. After visiting my cousin, Sandra, in the same Charlotte area, we drove over to Five-Points Farm (Kristen's sister, Lisa, is Asylum Hill) and picked up "Tank."

Visited my cousin, Sandra

Unfortunately, Sandra and I don't get together very often and yet we only live 2hrs and 20 minutes from each other. She lives in the Charlotte area and we live up in the Appalachian Mtns.

Sandra's husband, Walter, was in poor health for many years and died a couple of years ago. John's wife died after a long illness.

Neat story. Sandra and John met on Match.com and were married in March 2012. Only living 45 minutes apart, their first meeting was at a local restaurant and they hit it off.

Sandra, John, and Jeff fixed us a
tasty July 4th cookout lunch,
and we had a delightful visit.
Best wishes Sandra and John!
Thank you for lunch!
