Have I mentioned previously that we also run a spa?

Clemson Goat Show

We're so proud of MilkDud here, Mike handling. Dud won his 2yr-to-under-3yrs class and now he is showing in the Senior Champions Class. Up front, muscular 7yr old Abe from Kids Corral won, MilkDud still needs to mature through the body. Hopefully, when Dud is 7yrs old, he will be filled out like Abe.

a typical lineup

We slept in the Goat Mote, it worked great. We plugged up to the show barn and had our A/C and interior lights on, also ran a water hose to the trailer and we had running water in the sink. The barn was never locked and had bathrooms and showers available 24/7.
Took all 6 kids with us, Chamonix kept escaping her pen and nice folks kept rescuing her, throwing her back in. We had a very good time although we were hoping our Junior Does, Gabbi and TootleLu had better results in the ring. MilkDud came through, he was sooo keyed up in the pen, very excited to be there.
Was VERY hot and humid in Clemson, whew, glad to be back in the hills.

Toggenburg's

beautiful LaMancha buck.

Remember our Deets? He won the Junior Championship, now owned by Kori Connor.

Mike handling Cahoot who came in 2nd. Red Cahoot got a red ribbon.

Champion Challenge, Abe beat Sudoko.

This is how I feel.
Next weekend, Spindale...

jacket weather, respite garden, birdhouse gourds, preparing to show

It's been quite cool here, and windy, BUT mostly sunshine. Woke up to 37 degrees this morning.

When we are home and the weather is good, our goats (the females and wethers) and poultry freely wander around the 30 acres.

I planted Birdhouse Gourds in here.

We've been working on my Respite Garden, will be an ongoing project for years, getting all sorts of bushes and perennials planted in here.

bigger buck pen, Bourbon Red poults

Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats

We loaded up 11 goats in the trailer this morning and headed an hour away to Dr. Beckworth's. Because we're gonna cross state lines to Clemson, SC, each goat needed a health certificate from the Vet. $16 later (yes, just $16), we got the heath cetificates and a fecal check. Good news, after the fecal check, the Doc said he didn't see any stomach worms which is very rare in goats. Apparently, our worming medicine, Valbazen, does it's job.

We enlarged the buck pen and now the boys are tickled to be on a lot of lush greens.
Pappy, Cahoot, MilkDud

Beau and [wethered] Cubby have the same mother, Cali.

Now we have an additional 20 Bourbon Red Turkey poults in the chick brooder.

gardens, chicks, always some goats

Did you know that you can only taste 4 flavors with your tongue?
Those flavors are: sweet, sour, salt and bitter.

Use your imagination here for a flower/bush garden; took a lot of labor to get this area cleaned up. There are some dead pines I want cut down which will open up the view.

Finished getting the vegetable garden fenced in, up at the orange gate.

roasted vegetables

I make variations of this dish ALL the time, just depends on what I have around. I lay the potatoes skin up, and yes the red potatoes work best, so they get a french-fry texture on the bottom.
