Clara's Giveaway

I'm gonna have a giveaway in honor of the Queen of our herd, my dear Clara. She is due to have some babies soon, possibly March 25th, if the first hot date with Cahoot took. Depending on how many babies she has, depends on how many winners there will be in the giveaway, last year she had triplets.

I won the 100th Post Giveaway over at CHICKEN BOYS, look at everything I got. In my book, Chicken Boys are right up there with Santa Claus.

Randy states that he thinks the homemade salsa might be too spicey for us, but we like food with a kick, I'm sure it will be delicious, after work I'll stop, buy some chips, and Mike and I will dive into it tonight.

Whew, sure have to fly through that town in hopes not to get run over, the Goat Moat barreled through, felt like I was on the last laps at Charlotte MotorSpeedWay.

Going at a high rate of speed, I'm adjusting my glasses, mumbling, "that can't be a hen sitting on a nest?" Mike quipped, "in Atlanta? It's the Olympic flame!"

They have rows and rows of all sorts of horse trailers, wish I'd had time to nose around awhile.

I told 'em when a big bag of money fell out of the sky I'd be back but, truth be known, these are actually too fancy for me. The living quarters just don't look like me. We're talkin' $100,000 for a horse trailer y'all.

The Goat Moat looks like me.

MOAT - a channel resembling a moat (as about a seamount or for confinement of animals in a zoo). So, I'm now calling it the the GOAT MOAT - no water, but got a better ring to it (I know - its a stretch).

Give me a little time to do some "interior decoratin'." I want some goat curtains.

blogging from 'Bama

Remember when I said that I don't like long road trips? Let me reaffirm that. Sometime I'll have to blog about everything I learned about tires on March 14th.

We departed Boone at 6:30AM, and late this evening, we finally made it deep into Alabama, Dothan. It was an eventful, looong day. In the morning, we pick up the GOAT MOTEL and start heading back.

The Goat Motel

Hi, I'm waaay behind on catching up with my blogging friends but I'll get around. The sun came out this weekend and I couldn't bare to be inside. BTW, if you need any mud, come help yourself, we've hit the motherlode.

Also, this cheap ($3,500) trailer, THE GOAT MOTEL, is 9hrs one way away in Alabama but I think we may buy it. Certainly nothing fancy but when we're parked in hot parking lots at goat shows this summer, while hooked up to our generator, Mike and I would have a cool place to crash. Actually he's more sociable than me, sometimes I just like a quiet place to relax. I'm hoping we like it well enough inside to spend nights in it while parked at 2-day shows. And at the shows, you have to arrive very early, and get all the goats registered.

Up on that white roof on each side, I'd like some lettering going across - BooneDocksWilcox.

sunshine is coming

This is my girlfriend, Malaha's house. They finally got plowed out. She lives at Appalachian Ski Mtn.

sss... Sedalia, Spaghetti, Snowing

Guess what I (and I volunteered Mike) am considering doing? Going to Goat Judging School! My parents would be so proud that I'm furthering my education, (they always said that I just needed to apply myself). The problem is: Sedelia, Missouri is a 14 hrs drive away from here.

I looked into flying but:
a) drive to Greensboro, NC airport 2 1/2 hrs from here,
b) for security reasons you have to get there waaay early,
c) no straight flights, have to go by way of Dallas/Fort Worth and change terminals, been there done that, not too fun,
d) fly to Kansas City because that's the closest airport to Sedalia,
e) rent a car and drive 125 miles to Sedalia,
f) by the time I did all that, I may as well have driven the 14hrs from here,
g) I hate long road trips so I'm pondering,
h) Who's going to take care of the farm back home?


The 2010 AGS National Show and Convention will be held in Sedalia, MO the week of June 8-12, 2010. Come join us for some fun, learning & great times!

Baked Spaghetti

I had some questions about the recipe. Online, you can find many various versions but here's what I do.

large amount of the marinara, meat, mushroom sauce that I have prepared and seasoned ahead of time
large can of diced tomatoes (with the Italian seasonings)
frozen broccoli florets
8 oz. thin spaghetti, broken, cooked and drained (I only do thin)
shredded mozzarella cheese
grated Parmesan cheese (get the good stuff)

(some people just mix it all up but I layer)
in the bottom of the oiled pan, sprinkle with garlic powder
thin layer of the sauce
1/2 of noodles
thick layer of ricotta cheese
other 1/2 of noodles
beat 3 eggs and pour on top
sprinkle some mozzarella
layer with the diced tomatoes
thick coating of the my "mmm" sauce
thick layer of the cheeses on the top
lay a few frozen broccoli florets on top

bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.
