Splendide, and being a latchkey kid again

I wanted to tell y'all about the washer/dryer combo in the RV. If you ever find yourself living in an RV or a boat... :-) will come in handy. You don't take the wet, washed clothes out of one machine and put into another, the one Splendide machine does it all. Put 'em in for a wash and come back later and the clothes are washed and dried. The dryer part is vented, like at home.

Here is the company writeup -
Built-tough for RV and Marine use, the NEW 2100XC is Splendide's quietest, most durable and most convenient washer-dryer yet. Combining an entirely new drum and motor system with Splendide's flagship 2-in-1 design, the 2100XC is able to wash bigger loads than many stackable laundry sets, yet still saves valuable space, weight and resources. Made specifically for use in mobile environments, yet elegantly suited in any high-end condo or loft, the Splendide 2100XC features easy-to-use controls, silent, brushless motor technology, added stability control and class-leading washing and drying performance. Compare the 2100XC to other compact laundry centers and you'll see. With extra load capacity, a super-fast 1200 rpm high spin, modern Italian styling and more, the Splendide 2100XC makes a powerful and reliable laundry companion - on the road, at sea, or even in your uptown apartment.

Being a latchkey kid again. I was an only child and my parents worked away from home. I'd sit in school and dream all day about how I'd have the house all to my self for a couple hours when I got home. And, I didn't goof off at home, I started the fire, and dinner - LOVED all that alone time.
Last night, I stayed at the RV, and Mike, the three dogs, and farm critters were at the house. I fixed dinner, washed dishes, washed a load of clothes, and set the remote control on fire, just burning through those channels all by my self! Brought back so many memories. Just like my mother did, Mike kept calling to check on me. At 52 yrs old, I was living the LIFE man. Had some microwaved popcorn and a coke, just didn't get any better.
Sorta missed my family at bedtime, nobody to complain to about crowding me in the bed. I usually have a husband and dogs, all vying for bed space, and I'm just clutching to the edge. Last night, I lay spread eagle, but wasn't used to all that space, I tossed and turned for a long time and finally dozed off. Back at it in the office this morning.

You really know how to live it up on your own! As to the Splendide - I didn't know such a treasure existed. I can't imagine one machine handling both washing and drying...

Those washer/dryer combos are standard in France (and probably much of Europe). The only drawback is that they can be really, really rough on your clothes. My cheap American clothes started falling apart halfway through my student year there! But they do save a lot of water & energy, as well as space.

We used those in Thailand. I think they must have been used in Europe first.

I'd never heard of the Splendide, either. Wow.

The Splendide machine sounds just right for RVing.
I understand about that alone time too. I had 4 brothers, 2 sisters, usually a few cousins, Grandma, Grandpa, and an unmarried Uncle always around when I was growing up.There was no alone time, ever.
I don't guess I knew such a thing existed. lol...
Your evening out sounds like fun!

My niece has one of the Splendide units. She's disabled and it makes it so nice for her not to have to transfer the wet clothes from the washer to the dryer.

I love it that Mike kept checking on you.

What an awesome machine combo! I want one. I feel weird when I have the bed to myself too. I'm used to be crowded.

Sounds like a great evening. I would have enjoyed it too. Your washer/dryer combo is nice. This type of unit was available in Germany in the 80s when I lived there. They're a great space saver.

i thought of that splendide idea a few years ago- so funny i didn't even know it existed!

i'm an only child too-but now it would be strange to have a bed all to myself-i usually wake up with at least 2 paws on my head.

sounds like you had a ball!

That washer/dryer is very cool. The way life should be! I sleep alone a couple nights a week when John works. I did not like at first but I have learned to enjoy the time alone and the space. My dogs are bed hogs!

I want Splendide washer/dryer!That is such a fantastic machine. I like time alone, too but do miss everyone after a few hours. your husband is so sweet for checking on you. Mine has been known to have us drive behind him when he the weather is bad. That's very lucky, isn't it.
