shoes and radio shows

I bought a pair of shoes today. Asics Gel Kayono 15 Womens. They feel good. Although I stay so busy working at home and in the barn, plus working my desk job away from from home, I need to get to walking every day. I've got a doctors appt mid-August and I promised my doctor that I'd lose some weight before I came back next time. I know, I need to lose the weight for me, but she is a big, nagging motivator.

It's continued to pour the rain especially the last two days but it's bound to clear up sometime.

Keen Laguna Sandals. I have two pairs of the zip-up Keen Palermo boots which I love but the hiking shoes and the sandals just don't seem to fit my feet very well. I bought the pair up top but now that I've been wearing them, I don't think I'm gonna like 'em much. Many of the gals up here wear the Keen sandals and tell me they feel so wonderful but I don't know, not enough cushioning for me.

Speaking of needing to save money, sitting at my desk during the days, I like listening to talk radio especially Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard who give you money-saving, debt-free advice. I think both of them are intelligent and show a lot of common sense. It's because of them and Jackie Clay, that we are living on inlaws 30 acres in an RV right now. :-) The RV is quite comfy for Mike and I btw. People say, "are y'all crazy, living in a camper trailer?" We probably are, but it's been fun so far. If there are some radio shows that you like listening to through your computer, let me know, I'd be interested.

Guinea Pig G-Force and Gravel

G-Force, an upcoming movie, I could care less about the storyline, just love seeing the darling guinea pigs. As a young girl, I had the best guinea pig that ever lived - Chippy.

YEAH! Here comes the gravel truck. Don't run over my daylillies.

First load down, Mike raking and Nephew Jeremy pushing with the tractor.

If you had been wallowing in the mud for the last few months like I have, you'd be blogging about gravel too. And guess how much $$$ gravel we got? $920 worth. Do you have any idea how $920 affects our budget? a huge chunk but we oh so needed the gravel. It'll be taters, beans, eggs, and goats milk for a long while.

Nephew Jeremy and Mike take a break.

Nephews Demetre and Daniel were supervising from the 4wheeler.

Got a fire going again.

What's all the commotion?

Jeremy tries to give SugarPop a cracker.
Looks so much better around now, and not sinking in mud when we walk. Have I mentioned that it has rained here for months? I have? Several times now? Ok, but I want it to stop already.

High Country Farmers Market

High Country Farmers Market in Boone, NC
every Sunday morning from 10AM-2PM
located in EarthFare's parking lot (off to the side)

Roberta, the Ameraucana, watched as we departed for the Farmers Market. She's planning to jump the fence again while we're gone. Thinks she's so clever but gonna get herself killed.

Why does this sideways thing happen sometimes? It's vertical in my computer. Anyway, one of the vendors sells daylillies and I bought 4 large bags of assorted colors in clumps which will be planted tomorrow after the gravel man leaves. Yes, getting more mud covered up tomorrow.

Across from us, Jill and Steve sell lots of greens.
We got a slow start, but sold out of our eggs again. We average taking only 8 dozen a week to the market, would be more though if we found all the hiding places in the barn. Yes, we have nest boxes but... 8 dozen x's $3.50 helps to pay for the poultry feed and supplies. We're getting inquiries for our turkey eggs which we have to start putting one or two in each carton again. We'd been saving and selling them for hatching eggs. We only have 3 turkey girls but need for 'em to get busy.

Canyons, MaggiDan's Milker

The view from Canyons Restaurant today. Met my GOG's (Good Ole Gals) for lunch. We dine at a different spot each month.

Todays my birthday and I'm surrounded by this, thank you Lord.

These boys are inseparable - SugarPop and Cahoot.

Mike has been burning decayed wood, etc that was laying around the barn area.

Christy at FarmDreams recommended the MaggiDansMilker, haven't had the time yet to get the hang of it yet but think I will like it, will report back later.
I had a photo of my little, outside grill but the photo came out sideways. We've been cooking out the last few evenings, I grilled some corn last night that turned out so crunchy and tastey. Yum. Gotta do that again.

BlueRidgeMtns & buck pen

We live the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is the view from our doe pasture. The bucks don't have their fenced pasture yet but

they now have a buck pen.

MilkDud, Cahoot, and SugarPop. Cubby and Boones will be moving in when we take 'em from Caliente. That will be difficult for Mike and I, taking babies from a Mama, so don't hold your breath.

9-month old SweetPea likes playing with the kids. She doesn't hang out with her Mother June and Grandmother Clara. You see SweetPea's stomach that was shaved for the c-section, however, she doesn't realize that she is a Mama. We're still bottle feeding little Gabbi.
I hate for the black hoses to be in the photo but they transport our Spring Water which we use a lot of for our animals.

HeritageHomestead Goat Cheese, etc

The best goat cheese that I've ever tasted is sold at my High Country Farmers Market. Heritage Homestead Today, she didn't have as many flavors as she usually does (didn't have my Orange/Cranberry/Black Walnut but still had a good selection. I bought the Garlic/Chives for me and the Fiesta for Mike.

A coworker Louis and his wife, Grace, stopped by an bought a dozen eggs from us. Thank you!

Caliente and her boys, Cubby and Boones, were doing better today, getting used to a new home. I'll be glad when that green tattoo ink wears off of 'em.
