Now, we're getting somewhere

Early, our Cuckoo Marans Roo, is proud of his new stomping grounds.

SweetPea and the girls out picking.

This is not a joke, we don't have a toilet up here yet so we use the the portable chair, leftover from my broken ankle, for pooping, and then cover and bag the poop. When you gotta go...

SweetPea and a Cuckoo Marans hen.

SweetPea hangs out behind the chair Mike is sitting in, he rubs her butt.

Mike and a turkey girl.

Mike and MilkDud. We've got some age and pounds on us, all this labor is hard so we have to take breaks. My knees are gone, Mike says he aches all over.

Franklin and his three girls moved to the barn this weekend. All but one girl are taking it well, in a photo above, Mike had to catch one of the turkey girls and lock her up because she flew out and was walking back home.

SweetPea and June at the barn entrance.

Spring water is set to start running in there, that Faverolle girl better git.

Mike and Nephew Jeremy putting up fencing. Cain is SIL's dog, he walked over the hill and came for a visit.

FIL looks on.

Will Trade Sister For Tractor. Nephew Jeremy's son, Daniel, loves SweetPea.

Our three dogs - Brawn, Blissi, Henry. At supervised times, they get to run the 30 acres.

Now the bathtub is hidden behind some panels.

Entrance to MIL's large garden, has been tilled but nothing planted yet.

thanks for the visit, 'til next time

I should say so! Neither one of you will be able to move in the morning :)

Love the pictures and the captions, and the potty chair is perfect! Well, almost.

Things are really moving along! I want one of those big dog kennels to put the sheep in at night. The potty chair reminds me of some disturbing dreams I have sometimes. Don't ask!

Things are moving right along! I bet the dogs have a lot of fun running the 30 acres!

Such beautiful (and educational!) photos. LOVE the makeshift toilet. Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess. But in all honesty, you've given it a certain flair. LOL.

And the buds on the trees are a welcome sight for sure.

The chicken in the rain bowl is an added treat.

Just beautiful. Thank you.

Wow, those are some serious slopes you're dealing with--I'd get tired just walking to the potty chair! Goats certainly seem like a good option for that topography.

Looks like the chickens and all are starting to settle in. The new fencing looks good!

I had to giggle at the turkey girl walking back home - she must think she's a dog or cat! They look like they'll all settle in pretty quickly, though.

You guys take it easy - how about "a little at a time?"

I loved all the pictures of your place! I think turkeys are so neat, I want a couple as pets when we get our own little piece of land! For now I'll just have to settle for chickens!

Hey Joanna,

Thanks for stopping by Casa Hice today and leaving your comment. To answer your question, "Wii" is a video game console by Nintendo and "Wii Fit" is an exercise program for Wii using a balance board that also tracks weight (it has a built-in scale) and changes in overall balance. It's how I got back into the practice of exercising every day. It's a useful tool in managing weight and getting/staying motivated.

Since my knees are shot too, I find the Wii Fit to be a fun, challenging, and kind way to get moving. It's non-jarring and non-impact. In fact, you use it in bare feet.

It's not high endurance exercise or anything. Competitive athletes wouldn't be challenged by it, but it is a good place to start if you feel like blowing the $$ on getting the game console and Wii Fit program on top of it. I like it, but now that the weather is nicer, I'm enjoying taking my walks outside. I usually walk for 90 minutes or more, but you won't find me running. I tried that a few years ago and ended up in physical therapy for all the damage I did to my Achilles tendons and knees. Walking suits me just fine. Hope that answers your questions.

PS: The term "WiFi" means wireless internet or WLAN. It is unrelated.

Looks like you've made a lot of progress since I last checked in. I think the critters like their new digs, except for that one turkey hen. Hopefully she'll catch on quick.

Ohhh, that all looks so familiar. I have been right there. Except we didn't have the potty seat, just went behind a bush. We even bathed in the creek. (thank goodness it was summer time!) and..I was a lot younger than I am now. It does make a difference.
That is funny about turkey girl walking back home. I had the same thoughts when I was moved in the middle of nowhere. But I wouldn't trade it for anything now. The place or the experience, and the memories.
You all are doing a great job. It is looking good!
