nice day, oat meatloaf, dog's thyroid, turkey's

I'm still wearing spikes around the barn, but today was beautiful, and the goats moved up the side of the mountain where the sun hits and the snow has melted. My camera was on a 12X zoom for this photo. The LAST day of December is by far the warmest day of December, we'll see what January 2011 brings.

*******************
Do you put oats in your meatloaf?
Grit Magazine
From the current issue, I tried the mini meatloaves recipe, fairly tasty.
my photo

their photo, looks more appetizing than mine I think.

We took the Irish Terriers, Bliss and Brawn, to Dr. Beckworth's today. Blissi's hair is falling out, the doc checked for parasites but nothing, he said she may have a thyroid problem, and we'll need to do a blood test after the holidays when the lab courier is running.
*****************
Mike's sinus infection has turned in to bronchitis, but he refuses to go to the 24/7 Urgent Care. I keep telling him that the Z-pak stuff really helped me.
*****************
Buddies, Franklin and Jefferson, are doing great but Bennie not so much. We've got Bennie safely away from F&J, on the other 1/2 of the poultry coop, but Bennie is grieving for his other home and his girlfriend, Chestnut, that is still living there.
*
We got Franklin as a mature tom and he almost grieved himself to death after we brought him home, he lost a lot of weight and didn't gobble for a couple of months. Turkey's are very emotional.

His head has been real red like that ever since we brought him here, he's very stressed, so Wish Bennie a Happy 2011.

I have a Cairn terrier with a skin problem. It started with a bad flea allergy and now he has advanced skin disease that we fight with. His hair is almost back in on his back but he still smells bad.

Oh Bennie, I hope that your 2011 is much better than your 2010.

I hope Bennie settle's down soon. Turkeys really don't take well to change.

I either have to get some spikes or new boots. I rarely wear my boots, but need better traction when I do. I have only had these since 1996. You think they would last a bit longer.

I never knew turkeys could be so emotional and so attached to their home. I learned something new today.
I hope your sweet pooch will be ok. I'm hypothyroid and have a lot of hair, too. Hopefully, if that's what is wrong, some medication will treat it.

ps You asked on my blog if we have ski resorts in New Mexico. Why, yes we do. We've got Sandia Peak which is just 15 minutes up the mountain from our house.
We've got Santa Fe, which is one of the biggest ski resorts above 10,000ft elevation, and less than an hour from our house.

And then there is Angel Fire, Enchanted Forest, Pajarito Mountain, Red River, Sipapu, Ski Apache, and Taos (another big time, above 10,000ft elevation ski area) and they are all within a few hours drive from our house.

How about you? And did you used to ski?
I don't downhill ski anymore, though. But I would like to get back out and cross country ski again. There are lots of great places to do that. One of my favorite is the Enchanted Forest and also anywhere in the Jemez Mountains. Breathtakingly beautiful country, all above 9,000 ft elevation.
