Purkey

Purkey is our neighbor who lives at the head of the lane. A few of us happened to catch her resting on her porch this afternoon.

This time of year Purkey is busy making her famous Pumpkin Cider.

Jefferson visited for awhile.

Chamonix

As we sipped cider, we talked about how the weather has been quite chilly, a high of 58 degrees today and a low of 37 degrees tonight.
***********************************
You may remember last year, Purkey had some traumatic injuries. SweetPea and the gang didn't realize that Purkey's arms and legs were off limits. Took some mending for Purkey to get back in shape. All has been forgiven, and we are living in harmony now.

Was great to see Purkey again, she needed to get back to work though, I gave her a big hug, and we headed home.

That first photo is really charming. Purkey sure seems like a great neighbor to have in the lane. Looks like she enjoys the animals as much as you do!

To answer your question re: Miss Chef's teaching: the school doesn't really offer any courses outside of the degree program any more. You'd have to enroll as a culinary student, complete with professional knife kit, jacket, shoes and textbooks. It's specifically targeted to people wanting to enter the profession.

But you could always go to the cooking demos at the farmers' market! :)

How cute! We only have one neighbor down the road, but they are nosy and not nearly as quiet as Purkey I bet! :)

re movement of sheep, goats etc here in the UK.... even if a sheep moves twenty yards from one flock number to another then the animal must have a movement document and be tagged!!!
the woman who asked me to take them reared the sheep from very sick babies as a favour to a farmer... she didnt know they had to be tagged and "adopted" ..so therefore she effectively broke the law!

believe me I am also looking at buying a couple of goats too!!!

I can't believe you chickens, turkeys and goats don't eat the pumpkins! Even my chickens can peck right through the shell to get to the inner goopieness! No pumpkins left in the Bluff Country...
