High Country Farmers Market & more Cahoot

High Country Farmers Market began today and will continue each Sunday from 10AM to 2PM.

We sell eggs there.

Thank you EarthFare for allowing us to sell in the parking lot.

A couple of the vendors, Stacey and Carol. Stacey is a chicken/geese/turkey/goat buddy of mine from way back. Carol heads up the market.

Mike and our setup. We also advertise our Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats.

and because this is Boone, the rain showers came, off and on.

back at home, we spent some time in the pasture. Franklin always likes for us to be outside with him.

8 week-old Cahoot up front, June, SweetPea, and a Wheaten Marans hen in the background. Some of y'all commented about having rocks for the goats to jump on, we certainly have rocks, so much that it's tough to get holes dug for fence posts.

Cahoot stays near me, June and Mike in the background.

Cahoot's profile below. I need to wipe his nose, he has a little bit of a cold from the stress of a new home. Anyone have suggestions for treating his cold, however, I think he is some better today than yesterday. He's starting to eat more greens when I take him out to the pasture.
Cahoot is staying in a small stall in between Dud and the does so he won't be lonely. In two weeks, we are getting a doe and her two wethers which are Cahoot's age so he'll have some buddies. Dud wants to play too rough with Cahoot so he can't stay in with Dud.
The three does won't have anything to do with him, just head butt him away. Poor fella, he wants some goat buddies.

Yeah, our new little girl is having the same problem. The doe keeps chasing her and butting her. At least Orion is being pretty much nice to her. The introduction period can be hard.

Okay, now that I know where it is, I'll be coming by to get my eggs after church. I actually had to get a carton yesterday at Wal Mart. Can you believe it?? I hate that. I'd much rather give you the money than the big WM.

Good luck on your closing! Again, let me know if I can do anything to help this week.

We'll plan to come over to Earth Fare sometime when you're there!

And we can bring LOTS of egg cartons.

Love the pictures of the new babies! Not sure how you get anything else done, though. By the looks of our house, WE have baby goats....

I'm feeling for Cahoot, but it always takes time for a new animal to feel at home. I remember how one of my cats years ago treated a newcomer - for a while. Glad he'll soon have the wethers. Hope you had time to sit back and enjoy your new home today!!!

Beautiful eggs!! How many do dozen do you have to sell each week?
So, I was fascinated when I heard about this product (Vet RX): http://www.jefferslivestock.com/ssc/product.asp?CID=2&mscssid=5NUFUT6J8WWW8PR12ESW8G8B8PHW6CE1&pf_id=16742

It's all natural, has been used for over a century and I've talked to a few other goat owners who say they use it to alleviate sniffles and other respiratory issues that don't require antibiotics. I really like the all-natural ingredient part. Oh, and it also helps with ear mites. lol. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? I just got mine last week but haven't tried it out yet. Cahoot sure is a beauty!
