blackberries, cheese, & apples

the view of the blackberries

We were hiking around the 30 acres and found some blackberries.

See what my snack is tonight?

dear little Gabbi always likes to snuggle next to SweetPea

whenever I get a new hardback book, the first thing I do is remove the cover, can't stand the cover sliding around, the texture of the book itself is what I like

then I put on an address label and the date I recieved it

when I left for work this morning, I had a cheesecloth of goat cheese hanging over the sink

while walking up to the blackberries and apple trees, I noticed the dried remains of one of our Cuckoo Marans.

Are y'all familiar with these bags? I just read about 'em today. Sure would like to get some. The cheese book I'm reading recommended them over plastic wrap, storing cheese.

My son always removes the dust jacket too. What happened to your cuckoo maran? I made some amazing cheese the other day. I'll post about it soon.

It's been a long time since I picked blackberries - they are amazing when they're right off the vine? bush? See how long it's been?!

Do you think Gabbi realizes SweetPea is her Mom (instead of you!) even though SP won't accept the idea? Sweet animals!

OK - the computer goes on the truck this weekend sometime so, if you don't hear from me again after today, you will when I get settled in Iowa.

What a great photo diary! I am so jealous of your wild-found blackberries; totally reminds me of growing up. I might even be willing to put up with the heat, deerflies and prickers to re-live warm blackberries off the bush.

Now, you know you can't just show us a dead chicken without explaining!! What the hey?? Did you know it was missing?

My mom used to wrap my sandwiches in waxed paper, instead of plastic bags or wrap. I always thought it was just 'cause we were cheap/poor...but I bet unwrapping a sandwich from waxed paper today would make it taste better to me! I wouldn't waste money on buying bags of it though; that's just marketing.
