bread, lip balm, and balmy

I'm on day #5 of SuzanneMcMinn's Sourdough starter and then I want to make the sourdough Grandmother Bread tonight. Sure hope it turns out well as the picture above. My late Mother was from San Francisco, married and living in Raleigh, NC, she stayed homesick all the time for her California family, just the mention of sourdough bread would make her swell up in tears.

Make your own lip balm.
-2 tsp. beeswax (chop or grate it, then measure)
-2 1/4 tsp. jojoba oil (you can use any oil you like
-about 6 drops of essential oil (you can use anything you like.
Melt wax and jojoba oil together in the top of a double boiler, or you could probably put it in the microwave for a bit. Stir to combine. Then remove it from the heat and add the essential oil. Pour into your containers, but don't fill up completely yet. Wait a minute or two, keeping the reserved mixture melted, then top the containers with the rest of the mixture. This gives you a nice looking top. Let cool for about 20 minutes and enjoy!

Temps are actually up in the 50's today, yipee!

Thanks for the lip balm recipe, I will have to try that! Glad you are finally getting some warmer weather there!

The bread looks wonderful! My father was in the Army. One of the places we were stationed at was France. Talk about good bread!

Thanks for the lip balm recipe. A good make it yourself body care item that is probably a lot healthier than what comes in a tube at the corner drug store. :)

You did NOT make that bread! It's too beautiful, too perfect. My husband has to stop of a loaf of Sourdough on his way home from work (I did manage to tear myself away from the computer long enough to simmer a wonderful lamb and chickpea stew for dinner), but I GUARANTEE, the bread is not going to look like that!

We are fortunate to have a Panera Bread Company here. I'm not much of a baker and if my husband ever wanted bread out of me he would be sadly sadly disappointed and very very hungry.

I'm so proud of you. Awsome loaf.

I hope your bread turns out as good as that picture, too!
I might just have to try the lip balm idea!
