Sunday fixin's

I hope my doctor doesn't read my blog, or she'll confiscate today's potato salad and the chocolate cake I made yesterday. One thing though, she'll never catch me at is a fast food place 'cause none of 'em offer anything I like. I often thought I'd like to own and operate a fast food operation, the FAST part being that folks could quickly get the ordered food but the food doesn't have to be junk. I'd like to run it with some of you blogging gals, we'd make a fortune. Open, just for lunch. I did try to get a concession trailer but I that fell through, the guy is in jail now.

27 degrees and light snow today

For compost pile #3 that's in the chicken lot, the girls can get in there and scratch aound.

I used the rest of my pork loin for this recipe today.
Crispy Potato Flakes Pork Chops
Ingredients
2/3 cup potato flakes, instant
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoon milk
4 medium pork chops
Salt and pepper to taste
Paprika
Directions
Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray pan with nonstick spray. Wash pork chops; set aside.
Beat egg and milk together. Place potato flakes in shakable container. Dip pork chops in egg mixture, then into potato flakes. Lay in pan. Grease the pan fairly well. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle paprika on top to brown. Bake approximately 45 minutes or until done.

Ready for the oven

I like making potato salad because:
1) a dozen hard-boiled eggs went in, good when girls are producing a lot of eggs
2) it keeps for several days, good for a side, and taking lunch to the office
3) we like it, pickles is the first thing you taste

My doctor and I met at a local gym a few years back. Mike and I were faithful about going, but then the gym went out of business, and we're back to being blobs. It's fun to be a blob but not
healthy. I'm a happy, fat blob.

Store brands work just fine.

I'd like to apply for the position of line cook at your restaurant! What will you call it? I bet we'd crank out some mighty good food!

I love pretty bowls, like the red and white Pyrex one with the eggs in it. :) Looks like you had a great dinner! Joanna, do you remember when fast food tasted good to you? What happened? I ask that because it no longer tastes good to me. Even the better restaurant food is tasting processed to me too. Interesting somehow. So, I hardly ever go anymore. Shoot, the frozen Fresholi pizzas taste better to me than the big name ones do. Oh well...who knows?!

Yummy! I sure wish I lived closer to you so I could invite myself over for dinner! LOL! The only fast food place I tolerate is Dairy Queen, because I still love a good Blizzard. Naughty me!

Hey, Joanna, your food looks dee-lish! Thanks for saving some for me! I'll be right over!

You might want to take out the onion peelings (and garlic, too), 'cause they'll make your eggs taste funny. No potato peels either, because if they have any green, the solanine can make them sick and possible even kill them.

That's uncooked potato peelings. Should have made that more clear. :)

I mostly don't like any kind of chain restaurant food, fast or slow. It all tastes the same. The one exception being Bob Evans because they have real mashed potatoes and their roast beef tastes like homemade. I would just as soon have a bowl of chicken noodle soup or some hot oatmeal than go out to eat. It must be my age.

I am going to try that pork chop recipe. My husband loves anything pork. And he is not fat. Works it all off. Now on the other hand, I probably gain 2 pounds just looking at food pictures. lol...

Hope it warms up there. We are cold this morning, again. I think around 28 degrees.

Joanna! Hello and thank you so much for these four things:

1) Visiting Casa Hice
2) Leaving such a nice comment
3) Subsribing to follow my blog (that always thrills me even though I'm not sure why anyone wants to hear what I have to say)
and 4) For having an awesome blog yourself! I love food blogs! I can't wait to jump in with both feet and see what you're cooking up.

Glad to meet you and look forward to getting to know you (and Amy, and Mary) better.

Have a toasty day!

Alix
