snow, cold, wind, reading, staying warm

it's been lightly snowing all day, temps are in the teens, and winds keep gusting.

Local weatherman - ...chill readings will make it feel like its 10 or more below zero and that is respectable even in these normally windy hills. The only easing of the cold I can promise is a week away from happening so hunker down and hide your body parts!

I've got some good magazines waiting for me on the bed, did you read the quotes in Bakers Creek Heirloom Seeds? My favorite was: "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." Thomas Edison

At good ole Big Lots, we bought Reddy Heater TB100 - 30 - 55,000 Btu Pro Tough Series Propane Forced Air Heater. 30,000-55,000 BTU Reddy Heater, Propane Gas, Operates On 20-100 LB Tank. We paid $79 at Big Lots, but I see it advertised online in the $119 – $229 price range.

We've got a large propane tank hooked to the furnace and wall heater, but we had two small LB tanks from the RV, so this ReddyHeater can be a good backup just in case.

When we tried it out, the heater/blower sorta works too well, the LOW setting is not low enough, heats up the room very quickly, then we have turn it off.

Hello, Looks like your ready to hunker down. Good buy on the heaters. While it is not as cold here it is chilly and very windy. I am hiding out in the house only going outside to take care of the animals.

Happy New Year! We are pouring over our Baker's Creek Heirloom Seed catalog now, too. How nice for you to sit (but not too close!) to your ready heater and dream of Spring gardening! Stay warm in your neck of the woods!

We are cold down this way too, but not that cold and no snow. I can't wait until spring though.

Stay warm and enjoy those magazines!

I have one of those magazines next to my bed. Can you guess which one? Dairy Goat Journal.

Your cabin looks cozy, especially surrounded by snow.

I ache badly in this type of weather. Under the blankets I go!

Take care, Joanna.

I'm glad that you are staying inside and warm. NC isn't normally so cold. Hopefully, it will end soon. Those temps are our norms but we are prepared too.
We heat mostly with wood and it does a great job. Hope the chill lets up soon.

I think everything this side of the Mississippi River is COLD. Brrrrr. I haven't left the house in 4 days and won't until it warms up a bit. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Yes, I read all the Bakers Creek quotes too! I would love to go to one of their festivals someday. We have Arctic air predicted for Thursday, the only day I really have to travel somewhere. Hope you are staying warm!

That heater looks dangerous to me! Kind of like a giant dragon waiting to throw fire all over you. I guess things could be worse... it could be an ice maker!

Stay warm sweet Joanna. I'm worried about you up up thar in those cold snowy mountains.
